About this book
This volume includes edited and revised versions of the papers delivered and discussed at the recent Advertising and Consumer Psychology Conference. Following the theme of the conference -- "Measuring Advertising Effectiveness" -- the book blends academic psychology, marketing theory, survey methodology, and practical experience, while simultaneously addressing the problems and limitations of advertising. Acknowledging that advertisements are subtle, diverse, complex phenomena that require detailed investigation, this compilation explores the multidimensional nature of advertising's diverse effects from both academic and applied perspectives. Updates on theories and methods -- along with expert commentaries -- help to make this a valuable collection that will be of interest to advertising and marketing specialists and communications experts alike.

    Powerful, Noisy, Awkward

I got this vac for cleaning up a small space, just a room, and did not need a whole upright thing.I can say that this unit must have a very powerful motor- when you turn it on, it sounds like a Corvette at 6000 rpm and there does not seem to be anything built into the product to lessen this clamor. The unfortunate thing is that all this power as you would think from the sound(s) that it makes does not seem to translate into a lot of suction power. But the brush is very powerful and distinguishis this product from other "Dustbuster" type hand vacs.As a handheld vaccum, I do find its brush powerful to get things like cookie crumbs and whatnot out of a cheap synthetic carpet but beware, it is really loud. Well, one other good thing is that the bags are easily available.Probably you can find another handheld vac that is quieter but beware that some "Dustbuster" - style vacs do not have a sweeping powerful brush, they just inhale loose debris. So consider it... 4/5 Twain - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil Ultra Corded Bagged Handheld Vacuum, M08230RED (Kitchen) I got this vac for cleaning up a small space, just a room, and did not need a whole upright thing.I can say that this unit must have a very powerful motor- when you turn it on, it sounds like a Corvette at 6000 rpm and there does not seem to be anything built into the product to lessen this clamor. The unfortunate thing is that all this power as you would think from the sound(s) that it makes does not seem to translate into a lot of suction power. Great on Stairs, Awful on Bare Floors

0 3/5 That Girl (Lexington, KY) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil Ultra Corded Bagged Handheld Vacuum, M08230RED (Kitchen) I bought this (to replace a dying DustBuster) so I could pick up bits of cat litter on the bathroom floor. I thought it was doing a fine job. But one day, after I'd had it for a week or so, I was cleaning in my bare feet, and felt individual pieces of litter flying at my ankles. The brush/rotator thingie was basically just launching little cat-litter missles onto whatever was behind it--in this case, me, and the carpet in the adjoining room. So much for cleaning!I like the Dirt Devil on (carpeted) stairs a lot, although it is really, really loud (I wear earplugs). It has a very long cord, so one can vacuum the whole staircase without having to unplug/re-plug. But I don't recommend it on bare floors.I guess I'll need to get another DustBuster! 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , June 21, 2005

This is the best hand held vac I have ever owned!

If I were reading all the rest of the reviews of this product, I would have never bought it. Fortunately, I knew much better. I bought this vacuum over 10 years ago, and yes, there were problems with the belt coming off/breaking. However, after getting it repaired, I never had any more problems. It lasted a good 10 years and was the most powerful hand held vac I ever owned. After it finally died, I purchased many many others since I couldn't find it anywhere. I was so sick of the pet hair and trying to constantly use those rollers to pick it up, but no other vacuum cleaner ever worked. I finally found this a couple of months ago on-line and immediately bought it. They have upgraded the product. It is much better than the original, so do not read the older reviews since all the problems with the belt have been resolved. It has the most suction of any (including my upright) vacuum I have ever used. It has can be switched from low to high power, so the issues with it being loud do not... 5/5 Picky Person - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil Ultra Corded Bagged Handheld Vacuum, M08230RED (Kitchen) If I were reading all the rest of the reviews of this product, I would have never bought it. Great Little Machine

Bottom line ... this is a great little machine that does the work it's meant to do. I used this machine for a solid 45 minutes while vacuuming two entire floors of my home - including stairs - one of the best parts was that this machine did not over-heat as with other 'bagless' vacuums I've purchased in the recent past (which were put out into the garbage!).I could see that the vacuum was performing from the dust and debris that was entering the dirt cup. My home has all hardwood floors with a "mud" throw at the various entrances. The vacuum works great on hardwood surfaces and also did a nice job on the thin non-slip entrance rugs. Assmebly was a snap ... literally. The vacuum is VERY lightweight which is a big plus in preventing scratches on hardwood. This vacuum also has a very quiet motor - you can actually hear the phone and/or doorbell while you're running the vacuum!Although I'm happy with my purchase and believe this is a great little machine, I... 5/5 Pleased Repeat Customer (New Jersey) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Awesome!

Is it too much to ask for a vacuum to pick up stray pieces of paper, not to spit dirt out the back, and be light? This one fits the bill. I owned a dirt devil featherlite 9 years ago but after my husband touched it after 8 years, it didn't suck much anymore. Up till then it worked great. So I bought a vacuum that cost triple this vacuum thinking more expensive so it should be a wonderful vacuum. NOT! It didn't work well at all. Wouldn't pick up papers and kept shredding paper over the carpet, wouldn't suck it up. It also kept spitting dirt out the back on hard floors, or at least every direction except up the canister. I had a herniated disc for 10 months, every time I used the expensive vacuum, it was so heavy and bulky it kept throwing my back out more and kept me down for a week in pain. I was so happy to see kohl's had the new improved version of my old featherlite. It works as good if not better than the last one I had. It sucks really well. I have fun watching the dirt starting... 5/5 Jen (Ohio) - See all my reviews This review is from: Dirt Devil Featherlite Ultra Compact Bagless Upright Vacuum, UD40285 (Kitchen) Is it too much to ask for a vacuum to pick up stray pieces of paper, not to spit dirt out the back, and be light? Well worth the money! Best in price range!

OK, first off one of the top reviews says it takes 13 steps to empty. Mine doesn't, it takes TWO! One push the button on top to release the cansiter, two press the button on the side of the canister to open the bottom (over your trash can of course :P). I added pictures illustrating these buttons, plus a picture of all of the dirt! Also, do not expect Dyson fit and finish out of this vacuum. Its in a COMPLETELY different price category. That being said, what it excels at it is being the best vacuum cleaner I have used short of a Dyson. I'll list the pros and cons of this vacuum now; then since the devil (sorry for the pun) is in the details I'll expound on them a bit afterwards.Pros:Suction! Little sucker could suck a golfball thru a garden hose

This little sucker is unbelievable. The power is fantastic, the torque from the motor actually makes the vacuum jump in your hand when you flip the on switch.I have a couch in my basement that is the favorite place for my two cats to sleep. The couch had so much hair on it that the couch looked grey instead of purple. I spent 5 minutes with the pet hair eraser and the couch was literally hair free. The rubber attachment on the front works way better than motorized brushes that quickly clog with hair. The only thing I don't like about it is that it is a little loud, but I guess with power comes a little extra noise. I love this little vac, why pay all that money for a Dyson when this little guy works great!Edit: The one and only thing I don't like about the vac is the way the air coming out of the unit sometimes blows the hair into the air if you're not careful how you position the machine while you use it. Although considering how much air this... 5/5 Erick Van De Burg "F'ing pissed" (Holland, MI United States) - See all my reviews, November 20, 2008

I used my upright vacuum on my stairs first then went over them again with the the Bissell and could not believe how much dog and cat hair it got up so I moved to my sofa which has always been hard to get the hair off and it worked like a charm.
